Lisa Richter

Lisa RichterLisa Richter is an independent writer, editor and consultant with 20 years of editorial and marketing experience. Winner of the National Interfraternity Foundation Publication and Society of National Association Publications awards, Lisa has worked with clients ranging from marketing associations to women’s organizations. As a communications manager for The Sherwood Group, Lisa was responsible for all editorial and production of client magazines and newsletters, including writing and editing features and department articles. She wrote press releases and oversaw production of numerous marketing projects, such as membership directories, conference programs and brochures.

Awards

During her tenure at The Sherwood Group, Lisa was honored with several awards for her writing and publication expertise. They include:

  • First-place award from the National Interfraternity Foundation’s 1995 Publications Awards for writing “Should Women’s Fraternities Go Co-ed?” Alpha Phi Quarterly, Winter 1994.
  • First-place EXCEL award from the Society of National Association Publications in the Newsletters: Most Improved category for the Law Marketing Exchange.
  • Second-place Gold Circle award from the American Society of Association Executives in the Newsletters: Most Improved category for The Edge.
  • Certificate of Merit Profile Content from the College Fraternity Editors Association’s 1993 Awards for writing “Trying Times,” Alpha Phi Quarterly, Winter 1993.

Other Experience

Lisa has also worked for North Shore, a regional consumer magazine; TE&M, a telecommunications trade magazine; and the British Computer Society.

Lisa earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Iowa, where she also participated in a study-abroad program in London. Prior to that, she earned an associate of arts with honors and an associate of applied science in technical communications from the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois.

Lisa is co-author of Integrating Evidence-Based Design, a study guide published by the Center for Health Design. Her writing is also featured in The PLA Reader Series for Public Library Directors and Managers, published by Neal-Schuman Publishers, as well as The Better World Report, published by the Association of University Technology Managers.
